Welcome to Senior Year!

Girl, I've been there and I remember the strange mixture of emotions - excited to be going out into the world and chasing your dreams, but nervous of the unknown and bittersweet sting of goodbyes.

I'm not just here to take some really beautiful portraits for you to show off on Instagram, but also to be a big sister and cheerleader for you during this season. I'll remind you to slow down and appreciate the season you are in. I'll encourage you to dance in the sunset and let yourself celebrate being young, but still on the brink of becoming your adult self.

I'm here to give you an experience that you will look back on fondly for years to come! You should feel beautiful, fierce, and flawless as you embark on this new adventure.

Below you should find all you need to prepare and plan for your senior session!

Each senior session is both an investment and an experience. Because I have a limited number of spots and want each girl to have a high quality custom experience, I only offer one size package that’s all inclusive. {Note: All sessions require a $50 deposit}

Senior Experience: $600

  • 2 Hour Session in 2 locations (or 1 if it’s a place like a state park with lots of variety)

  • 3-4 Outfit changes

  • 200 Edited photos

  • Online Gallery with High-Resolution files and a print release

Is the Senior Experience outside of your budget?

On Saturday, August 25th, I’m hosting a mini session day just for seniors. This is a great chance if you can’t afford a full senior experience to still get a small collection of gorgeous photos!

Senior Mini Session: $250

  • 20 minute session

  • 1 Location (TBD)

  • 1 Outfit

  • 30 Edited Photos

  • Online Gallery with High-Resolution files and a print release

What are the next steps?

Here's the whole process for you:

  1. Tell me that you're in!
  2. I'll send you a list of the available dates to choose from. Once you've chosen, I'll send you a contract + invoice. Once I have the $50 deposit in, your date is set!
  3. Let's get to know each other! I'll send you a fun questionnaire to fill out and we'll schedule a little Facetime meeting to say hi and talk about ideas.
  4. Stay in touch while waiting. I'll check in a few times and would love to answer questions you might have.
  6. You get to see some previews within 24 hours!
  7. You can expect the whole gallery in your inbox in 4-6 weeks.
  8. We hopefully stay friends. ;)

Style Guide

This is your time to show off and feel radiantly beautiful! I suggest having at least one formal outfit and one casual outfit. This means we should have something to put up on grandma’s wall and something really fun to share with friends. Remember that these photos will be around for many years, so wear clothes that you are absolutely in love with. Keep in mind the location that you are choosing as well! Downtown vs. the family farm has a completely different feel to it.

It’s so fun to think up all the different ways you can use jewelry, scarves, hats, shoes, and whatever fun stuff that you love! It’s an easy way to mix up an outfit and add variety to your photos.

I suggest finding what vibe you want to emphasize in your photos. Do you want something a little more trendy? Classic? Edgy? Minimalistic? Girly and romantic? Bohemian hippie? It’s up to you. I suggest outfits that you adore - items that make you feel amazing and on top of the world. You ARE beautiful so choose clothing that helps you to feel and embrace that.

Go Pro

A professional hair and makeup artist can totally enhance your conödence and add another layer of fun to your senior experience! It’s up to you where you want to go and how much you want to spend in the process, but remember there are options such as Ulta, Sephora, local salons, and cosmetology school students. A detailed list of recommended professionals is available upon request!

If you aren’t able to add these services, don’t fear! There’s nothing wrong with grabbing a talented friend to help or rocking it yourself. It’s always fun to put those Youtube tutorials to use! I suggest doing a little bit more makeup than normal, but nothing too wild or wacky unless you’re really feeling it.

What to avoid:

I’d suggest avoiding strapless desses or tops, shorts that are super short, shirts where your bra strap is showing, uncomfortable fits, anything you don’t feel gorgeous in. At the end of the day, this is your session. I’ll guide you through the process, but follow your gut and be fearless!

Q. Can I bring my pet?

A. Heck Yes! I want these photos to feel like you. Plus, I’m a big fan of furry critters!

Q. Can I bring my family?

A. Yes, and also kinda no. Mom is always welcome to come with, but I also encourage some exploration with just the two of us. I try to snap a few quick shots with you and mom if she’s there, but it's not the right time to squeeze in family Christmas card photos!

Q. Should I wear my glasses in my photos?

A. This is up to you! I totally get the glasses life - you wear them every day and that’s how everyone knows you, but maybe you don’t like the glare in photos or feel prettier without them. I’d suggest doing some of both! Your glasses are part of your style, but it’s also fun to feel a little extra glam without them.

Q. I still have braces on, but am planning on getting them off during senior year. How should I time my session?

A. The most popular option I’ve had seniors do previously is to do their senior session before or early on in senior year. Then, we schedule a mini session for post-braces. That way, you can have the lush, green, bright vibes you may desire, but also have some metal-free smiles later!

Q. What days of the week can I schedule my session?

A. With the exception of the one mini session day, I book all my portrait shoots on Monday and Wednesday evenings! Depending on the month and sunset time will depend on the exact time we start in order to get those beautiful sunset photos. Because I’m a wedding photographer as well, I’m often gone on Saturdays and the weekends I do have free are reserved for family and friends. Thanks for being understanding! :)

Q. What happens if it rains?

A. I keep a few extra dates available for weather rescheduling! Your deposit will all be transferable if we must reschedule due to weather or a family emergency.

Q. Do you travel for senior sessions?

A. Yes! If I'm already traveling to your city (especially if you're in Minneapolis, Duluth, or Bismarck) then I can send you my travel dates and we can schedule around that time with no additional fee. If I'm not already traveling to your city, I do charge a travel fee for sessions more than 60 miles from Fargo.

Q. Do I have to purchase prints through you?

A. Nope, but you DO have that option in your gallery! The prints in the gallery are sent to a professional lab and offered to you for a reasonable price. This is the best quality for your photos, so I'd recommend ordering prints through the gallery!

One Last Thing to Remember!

This is your year. This is supposed to be fun. This is an ending of a season, but the beginning of a new one. In the years to come, you will see your dreams play out in front of you. Before you know it, you will be making besties in college dorm rooms or over the weird spontaneous moments. You will be falling in love and starting families. You will be telling stories about the adventures you have, the people who shared them, and all the things you tried - even if they failed.

Don’t lose sight in the rush - don’t lose confidence - don’t lose heart. I believe in you, I’m cheering you on, and I’m so excited for what your future holds! You carry magic. You carry gold. You carry light. Let’s get together and have a blast!

Much love, Olivia
