Loving the Nations in Fargo || New American Consortium

In every community, there is work to be done.
In every nation, there are wounds to heal.
In every heart, there is the power to do it.
— Marianne Williamson

It's tempting to believe that we need an airline ticket to love the world.

Yet sometimes, we need only to open our eyes and drive down the road.

There is good work being done in our own communities that ripple throughout the entire world. One such organization is the New American Consortium for Wellness & Empowerment. They provide valuable services such as mentoring, tutoring, and support to those who are making Fargo their home. They are promoting diversity and cultural celebration between those who have called the Midwest home for generations and for those who are starting their new family history in the windy plains.

My own heart needed this reminder when I showed up at the Consortium to photograph a volunteer party in December. I do not need to leave to eat delicious new food, hug sweet African children, and give back using photography. All these things are more are waiting for us all if we only search out the opportunities and jump in with willing arms.

What are you waiting for?
